Bringing classic film back to The Northcote Theatre
In 1912, the Northcote Theatre was brought to life and became the epicenter of entertainment in Melbourne, Australia. It underwent many transformations and finally became the ‘Regal Ballroom’. This film celebrates youth, friendship and the everlasting magic of cinema.
Monday 16 July 2012 at 8pm: Donnie Darko.
We wonder whether Donnie Darko is a typical maladjusted teenager or if he’s borderline delusional, beset by visions of a monstrous rabbit, which is trying to keep him under its sinister influence.
Donnie battles his demons, literally and figuratively, in a series of intertwining story lines that play with time travel, fundamentalist gurus, fate, predestination and the machinations of the universe.
Tuesday 17 July 2012 at 8pm: The Artist.
It’s 1927, Hollywood. George Valentin is a silent movie superstar. The advent of the talkies will sound the death knell for his career and see him fall into oblivion. For young extra Peppy Miller, it seems the sky is the limit – major movie stardom awaits.
“The Artist” – the film that swept the Oscars, tells the story of their interlinked destinies.

Jack takes a job as the winter caretaker at The Overlook Hotel, with the aim of using the self imposed solitude to work on his writing. With his wife Wendy and son Jack in tow, they move in with the knowledge that the previous caretaker’s cabin fever ended violently.
Directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on the novel by Stephen King, The Shining is everything you can want from horror story- creepy premonitions, horrifying visions and a very scary Jack Nicholson.
